Twin Giant Gradients - Cool Spectrum, Wool + Mohair

108.00

Twin Giant Gradients are made with two strands of yarn that are wound together, cake dyed so that they are exact duplicates, and then divided back into two strands.

When you knit these yarns in alternating rows, every lovely speckle and tonal color change happens twice. The color changes in the yarn compliment each other and make a gorgeous fabric.

Cool Spectrum features a strand of Helix (100% merino) and a strand of Penumbra (65% fine mohair / 35% polyamide). Each strand is 700 yds long for total of 1400 yds of hand-dyed goodness.

I’ve designed the February Friend Shawl (last 3 photos) to showcase this new yarn. It’s a very generous heart-shaped shawl with a wingspan of 102 inches / 260 cm. Starting with the simplicity of garter stitch, this pattern is great for social or travel knitting, and a basic lace chart adds a bit of zing to the lower half of the design.

The resulting shawl is remarkably easy to wear. Its angled shape keeps it in place with a minimum of fuss, and it’s big enough to wrap at least twice.

Yarn comes with the pattern for February Friend, a circular knitting needle, stitch markers, and a yarn needle. If you’d like just the yarn, you’ll get a refund of $7. Please leave me a note at checkout and I’ll process your refund manually.

Twin Giant Gradients are semi-repeatable - I can generally get the same colors, but each gradient has its own unique fingerprint. Thanks for looking!
